Can I use Scotch Guard on my daughters shirts?
My daughter is so messy when it comes to eating. She is always getting ketchup on her clothes and I don’t want her to ruin all of her new school clothes. I am a stain freak and I can’t stand to see her clothes ruined. I wonder if I can use Scotch Guard on them and if so how often should I spray them? Are there any other products I can use to repell stains?
You can but you will probably have to re-apply every time you wash the garments. Most scotchguard products begin to deteriorate with the application of detergents. That is why you have to re-apply it on upholstery and carpet if you steam clean. If you have an RV store, camping store in your area, they sell a product that you put in the washer with the garments and it washes in the stain resistance during the rinse cycle. It is for tents, awnings, outdoor cushion covers, etc. which are subjected to water and spot cleaning with detergent based solvents. These will last longer than the spray on type through multiple launderings.
